The National ICT Australia (NICTA) Campus Development is a five storey A-Grade commercial development comprised of two buildings that share an internal atrium and through-site link. The development was designed to present an ultra modern and ‘futuristic’ public face in keeping with the key clients’ business outlook.
The striking curved design of the building is a site specific response to Walter Burley Griffin’s Canberra Masterplan. A dramatic transparent street frontage is created by utilising an innovative floor to ceiling glass facade system. The facades are cloaked in a metallic ‘veil’ that folds up from the western facade to form a dramatic floating roof which is a signature architectural element in Civic. Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) initiatives have been embedded into the design to ensure the NICTA Campus becomes a benchmark ESD building in Canberra.
