Leighton Properties and Mirvac chosen with preferred status to develop Sydney's latest urban development

Mirvac Group and Leighton Properties are pleased to announce that they have been selected with preferred status to partner with Landcom to deliver the first phase of Green Square Town Centre, in Sydney’s inner south.

The six hectare site is located only four kilometres from the Sydney CBD and is set to be transformed into a sustainable urban village comprising residential, commercial and retail space. The Consortium and Landcom will deliver the initial phase of this landmark project comprising a diverse range of residential dwellings, a new commercial precinct for Sydney and a unique retail destination offering.

Mirvac’s Managing Director, Nick Collishaw said, “Mirvac’s strategy of concentrating on key urban infill projects, with a focus on sustainability and community presence has been rewarded with preferred tender status for Sydney’s latest project, Green Square.

Green Square will benefit from the experiences gained in Mirvac’s recent co-venture projects including, The Royal at Newcastle Beach, Newbury Estate at Stanhope Gardens and Middleton Grange in Sydney’s south west, all partnered with Landcom.”

Leighton Properties, Managing Director, Mark Gray, said, “We are extremely delighted to partner with Mirvac and Landcom to deliver an outstanding new Town Centre for Sydney, with a focus on a people orientated community that will ensure Green Square becomes a truly sustainable place.”

Mr Gray also commented that Green Square was a good fit with the company’s current strong total order book of over $5 billion of development projects and would benefit from the Leighton Group’s proven record of project delivery.

The Consortium looks forward to working with the City Of Sydney to realise the objectives set out in the 2030 Vision for a Green Global Connected village. The core values of all stakeholders are aligned with regard to quality, sustainability and delivery. Construction is expected to commence in 2010.
