Countdown on for new Noosa resort development to open in 2010

The countdown is on toward the opening of the first, internationally managed resort to be developed in the Hastings Street, Noosa Heads precinct in over 20 years, the Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort & Spa.  The resort, which forms the third and final stage of the $350 million Viridian Village residential and resort project on Noosa Hill, is being developed by Leighton Properties and the Macquarie Group of Companies.

Project Director, Bob Borger of Leighton Properties said that construction and contractual arrangements were on track for an expected July 2010 handover by the developers to hotel operator, Outrigger Hotels & Resorts. The resort is expected to open for business in August 2010.

Guests will be accommodated in luxurious self contained apartments, villas and penthouses with access to resort facilities including a lavishly appointed day spa, two pools, gymnasium, restaurant, poolside licensed bar and conference and meeting facilities for 350 delegates (or up to 500 across a variety of meeting spaces).

The development comprises of 198, one to four bedroom apartments, villas and penthouses. Prices start from $535,000 for one bedroom resort apartments and $1.4million for three bedroom villas. Settlement is not due until mid 2010 and many properties include rental guarantees for owners wishing to participate in Outrigger’s rental program.

Mr Borger said that investor interest in the project had been on the rise, particularly with the arrival of Noosa’s peak holiday season.

“Commitments of over $3million have been secured in recent weeks and the opening of our on-site unit and villa displays has allowed potential buyers to access the site and appreciate the qualities of the development.

“The combination of a Little Hastings Street address, the high level experience and reputation of the international resort operator and delayed settlement is an attractive proposition for many purchasers,” Bob said.

The resort’s architecture has been created by internationally renowned architect, John Mainwaring and features environmentally sustainable design principles. More than half of the 20 hectare total site has been gifted back by the developers to the local Sunshine Coast Regional Council for conservation.
