Leading sustainable developer Leighton Properties has committed to building Fortitude Valley its first major residential tower, releasing designs for Mosaic in Brisbane’s James Street Precinct.
Designed by award winning architects Cox Rayner, the $150 million mixed use project proposed for the corner of East, Church and Ann Streets will provide the final link between the Valley, James Street and Emporium.
Andrew Borger, Leighton Properties Executive Director and State Manager, QLD said Mosaic would bring together the best elements of design and ESD, in a sought after location.
“Mosaic will offer 250 one and two bedroom apartments priced from just $350,000,” Mr Borger said.
“We worked closely with Cox Rayner to ensure the layout and the interiors reflected what we were trying to achieve in terms of quality finishes and an innovative use of space.
“We believe the Valley is undergoing somewhat of a renaissance, with infrastructure projects such as the Clem7, Airport Link and Gateway Duplication set to remove much of the through traffic from arterial roads that currently run through the Valley.
“As these major projects come on line, and projects such as the Brisbane City Council bicycle hire scheme begin we’ll see the Valley become more pedestrian and bicycle friendly.”
The apartments at Mosaic are aimed at both investors and owner occupiers who are seeking the lifestyle conveniences that the Valley offers.
“We’ve incorporated the community aspects that we think are important to potential residents of an area like this; Mosaic will have unique features such as a rooftop garden and terrace for residents, as well as bars and cafes open to the wider public.
Borger said the project was a reflection of the Valley’s significance as an alternative employment node to the CBD.
“We’ve recently seen the Valley overtake Milton and South Brisbane as the premier employment zone outside the CBD, which has brought more than 15,000 additional workers to the area in the last 5 years.
“Many of these people want to live close to work and close enough to restaurants and bars to walk home safely and easily.
“At Mosaic we’ve tried to provide the ideal home for the singles, couples and small families who want to live, work and play within Brisbane’s lifestyle hub.”
The 3,752 sqm site was acquired from the Brisbane Housing Company (BHC) and a planning application has been lodged.
