The Leighton Group
The Leighton Group has evolved significantly from the construction company of its origins over 50 years ago. Today we are a diversified service provider to a range of private and public sector clients.
THEN AND NOW
Founded in 1949, Leighton Holdings Limited listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 1962. Today, we are:
- One of the world’s major project development and contracting organisations
- The world’s largest contract miner
The head office of Leighton Holdings is in Sydney, Australia.
7 INDEPENDENT COMPANIES
Leighton Holdings owns seven diverse and independent companies: Thiess, Leighton Contractors, John Holland, Leighton Properties, Leighton Asia, Leighton International and Al Habtoor Leighton Group. The companies operate in more than 25 countries from headquarters in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Dubai. Together, they employ around 40,000 people.
HOW EACH COMPANY OPERATES
Each company functions independently with its own Board and Managing Director, with management encouraged to innovate and be successful in an autonomous manner.
At the same time, a corporate governance framework, defined by Leighton Holdings, sets standards for ethics and financial performance; health safety and rehabilitation; and community and environmental standards.
Leighton Group Overview
