Leighton Properties and Kann Finch Architects have submitted a development application for a high-quality, residential apartment building at the gateway to Bondi Junction in Sydney.

The proposal, on the corner of Oxford Street and Hollywood Avenue Bondi Junction (opposite Westfield), is approximately 500 metres from Bondi Junction train and bus interchange and close to a wide range of services in the town centre.

The design of the proposal has been developed over a number of months and seeks to achieve a high-quality, premium outcome whilst also targeting a 5 Star Green Star design. The design has been subject to rigorous peer review, via a Council-appointed urban design review panel, DC8 Studio, and an urban design report by Professor Peter Webber. Professor Webber an honorary member of Sydney University’s Architecture, Design and Planning Faculty and a former NSW Government Architect, provided a positive endorsement of the proposal.

The site of the proposal is in close proximity to a Bondi Junction transport interchange, beaches, parks and retail.

The proposal has been designed to maximise privacy and setbacks from neighbours, maximise views to the north-west and to minimise the impact on views and overshadowing of nearby residences.

As part of the submission, Leighton Properties has committed to the upgrade of Eora Park, located across Hollywood Avenue The improvements to Eora Park will provide existing and incoming residents with a more contemporary and accessible public space. The proposal also includes a contribution to Waverley Council to support future public domain improvements identified by Council.

The DA proposal includes:

  • 129 high-quality residential apartments in a 21 storey building
  • A broad range of apartments to attract a mix of residents, from studios to three bedroom plus study penthouses
  • Street level retail
  • 86 car parking spaces
  • Upgrades to the surrounding footpath, neighbouring Eora Park and the public domain
