Perth City Link Shortlist
Michael Barr 6 July 2012
After a competitive process, a consortium between Leighton Properties and Mirvac has been shortlisted by the Western Australian Government to develop the highly anticipated Perth City Link project.
“The Perth City Link project is an initiative by the WA State Government that will not only resolve a barrier that has existed for 100 years to link the Northbridge Entertainment area with the CBD, but also deliver a contemporary, integrated mixed-use environment accessible to locals and tourists alike,” said Mark Gray, Managing Director at Leighton Properties.
The 13.5 hectare site will draw billions of investment dollars into Perth through a vibrant mix of new transit, commercial and retail zones, public spaces and living environments.
JOINT VENTURE EXPERIENCE
“It is one of Australia’s most significant CBD developments and these kind of large complex projects are not just about the development delivery but also the provision of infrastructure in a staged and coordinated manner.”
Leighton Properties and Mirvac said they had a shared vision with the WA State Government and their combined capabilities and experience makes the consortium well placed to deliver a project of such magnitude.
“WA’s exceptionally high growth presents fantastic opportunities to strengthen the economic and social heart of the state. As such, the companies believe the scope and importance of the Perth City Link project calls for the combined expertise and security the organisations can offer,” said Mr Gray.
