COMPLETE. This innovative project saw the design and construction of a new 11 level office tower above an existing 10 level carpark.
The unusual brief created many design and construction challenges, such as:
- an office tower core containing lifts, stairs and service risers through the existing carpark
- new columns, to support the office tower, penetrating the carpark levels
- a new entry lobby to the building at Kent Street, by partially demolishing a number of carpark levels
- the carpark needed to re-open for public use whilst construction of the office tower continued overhead
?Despite the extensive and complex nature of demolition and construction, the work was completed just seven months after construction commenced. The entire project was achieved on budget, within the set programme.
